Newsletter

Dear Bentley Wood Community,

As we come to the end of another school year, it is my pleasure to send you the school newsletter. It is a celebration of this half term and a few reminders of some events over the past school year. Whilst reading this, we can take a moment to acknowledge the hard work and dedication our students and staff have shown throughout the year.

I hope our students will reflect on this school year as being full of engaging lessons, inspiring achievements and memorable moments. I enjoyed meeting a wonderful group of Year 7, 8, 9 and 12 students for an afternoon tea to celebrate just this. I hope to catch up with some equally worthy Year 10 students as they start Year 11 next half-term.

Election fever got us talking and thinking in early July as our Year 12 Politics students were invited to a political husting at The North London Collegiate School and then conducted their own election in school. Each Year 10 tutor group presented their own BWHS manifesto and voted for their Year Group Prime Minister.  This was so impressive; their manifestos aligned so well with the school’s CARE values and illustrated very well what wonderful young people they have grown into.

Year 10 and Year 12 have completed a variety of work experience placements, gaining valuable insights into various careers.  I am sure they appreciate the wonderful experiences these are for them, taking them right out of their comfort zones of school and home and plunging them into the unknown. Ending the year with Sports Day and activity day trips to Windsor, Central London and West Wittering reminds us how close a community we are, embracing old and new experiences together.

I hope our Year 11, 12 and 13 students are enjoying a restful break and will be ready for results days on the 15th and 22nd of August. A final reminder that school starts for staff on 2nd September, for Year 7 and 12 on 4th September and the remaining year groups on 5th September.

As we all transition into a very well-deserved summer holiday, I encourage you to take an opportunity to unwind, reflect, and enjoy quality time together, whether that means embarking on family adventures, pursuing new hobbies or simply relaxing at home. We look forward to seeing you next term, ready to start new journeys and challenges. Until then, I wish you all a restful summer holiday break.

Best wishes and the very kindest regards,

Naseema Akbar
