Dear Bentley Wood Community,
This half term’s newsletter really fills us with pride, as we see the dedication of staff, students and families come together to support our students in yet another half term of wonderful experiences and opportunities.
Whether you were performing on stage, directing and choreographing, involved in make-up and costumes, stage and lighting, ticket sales and refreshments or like me in the audience, the BWHS performance of Matilda will have a lasting impression on every one of us. Six months of 100% dedication and hard work, producing three days of sell-out performances, is truly inspirational.
School clubs, trips and whole school experiences have been so varied and I am so pleased to see birdwatching and gardening featuring this half term as the beautiful Bentley Wood school grounds come to life after it’s winter sleep.
All our Year 11, 12 and 13 students have completed a full set of mock exams. Preparing, sitting and learning from each one of these practice exams will support every student in strengthening their resilience and exam performance skills. Revision classes held over the upcoming holidays will, I am sure, be well attended. It is important this is balanced with very well-deserved breaks.
We continue to have a number of whole school foci on areas like student mental health, online safety, Oracy and reading.
Our students continue to take full advantage of a wonderfully rich curriculum which can and will support their personal development, opening their eyes to new experiences as they progress through the school and beyond. We can see how creative our staff are in ensuring the students’ school experiences are enriched in so many different ways.
I would like to wish you all a very restful half-term break and look forward to seeing the staff and students again on the 20th February.
Kind regards,
N Akbar Headteacher
